Dunollie Castle, Oban

Oban to Dunbeg

A scenic route up the coast taking in views of the Inner Hebrides

Setting off from the centre of Oban, this route hugs the shore alongside the sandy beaches of Ganavan, before climbing towards the village of Dunbeg on a traffic-free path.

With castles at Dunollie and Dunstaffnage, and the visitor centre at SAMS (Scottish Association for Marine Science) nearby, this is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the local area.

Alternatively, watch island ferries come and go from the town’s busy port, or look out for the resident otters, seals and sea birds along the shoreline.
